I learned more about MB’s on amazon.It is actually deceiving because when you look at a MB pen on amazon you can click on the “Montblanc” underlined link. Makes you think you are buying directly from MB. But in actuality you are having it fulfilled by someone else. That info is buried in the listing.Now I went to a boutique and confirmed these pens were in fact authentic. But when you buy from someone other than a boutique (or I’m assuming an authorized retailer like Macy’s or Nordstrom’s ) the book will not be stamped/completed in the back. Therefore it does not carry a warranty from MB. However, these third party vendors may have a warranty of their own (which usually means they will replace the pen).I went to the boutique and they engraved the real eons.
I had a third pen I didn’t care for and returned it to amazon. No problems.One other thing I want to add is that this packaging it came with is what the boutiques receive pens in. So it being factory sealed is actually desirable to me so I know it wasn’t tampered with or is used.Downside is the warranty and the fact you don’t know how long the pen has been in circulation. That time could affect the ink refill as it may not last as long or may be dried up.Regardless I’d buy again from an amazon dealer but only once I’ve confirmed the pen is in factory packaging as above. The warranty to me isn’t much of a big deal considering you can pay to send the pen in for servicing if something is wrong.
