Emachines Recovery Management Software

Posted on -

I own a eMachine W3650/Intel(R) Celeron(R) GB of RAM. I need to perform a system recovery and do not own the disks, as they don't come with the computer, of course eMachines will gladly sell them to me. Is there a site or does anyone know of one, where I can download them, so that I can burn them and use them. I did find a site called TORRENTRECTOR.NET. They claim I can down load them from there anonymously. I would like to, but how do I know if they are the correct disks for my specific computer or does it matter?

Are they all the same regardless of the model? Please, if anyone/someone can help, I would appreciate any and all assistance with this. Thank you for your time and consideration.

Thank you both for the help/advice! I wasn't attempting to download software illegally. As I'm not pc savy by any means, I didn't know if I could get the software from somewhere for free or not.

Emachines Recovery Management Not Working

Recovery

Again, I was not trying to break the law/rules at all, just wondering. As for spending the money to purchase the software, in this tough economic time, spending money on something that one would think should come with the computer is a problem. I'm lucky to have even been able to purchase the pc to begin with. Anyway, I have found a avenue to solve my issue. Thanks again and have a great day! Flavallee, I recently increased my internet speed from the second tier to the fifth tier, the highest offeredto by my provider. After doing so, I didn't notice a difference in the pc's performance at all.

I spoke with a tech rep. Through my provider and they informed me that the issue lies within the computer itself, i.e.

Settings, etc. They suggested that I perform a system recovery to return my pc to it's original settings and that this would solve my problem. Also, I have a laptop that when plugged directly in has no problems and the higher speed works just fine. The desktop does not. A speed test and several other tests were performed, all to no avail. As I mentioned above, I'm no computer guru, not by a long shot, making the entire process very frustrating.

I have figured out a way to perform the recovery, again, as mentioned above, but will wait for now to see if anyone can suggest something else I may do. Thanks for your help! Flavalle, let me clarify some. My internet providers tech rep. Claimed that the reason I'm not noticing a increase in speed is due to something within my computer itself, a setting, etc.and that by performing a system recovery it will return my pc settings to their original settings, and that this will allow my computer to run faster. Something is blocking my pc from performing with the increased speed and as I said the tech claims that it is inside of my computer. Like I mentioned, I'm no computer master and really have no idea at all.

So going by what the tech said is truly all that I can do, unless someone can suggest anything. Thanks for your help. Some tech support people are too quick to suggest a system recovery or reinstall of Windows to solve a problem. I personally don't believe it needs to be done.Doing a system recovery and reverting that computer back to its original factory condition is going to cause you to lose all your personal data, unless you back it up first to an external media. If you don't have a recovery CD kit and there's no built-in recovery partition, you're not going to be able to do a system recovery anyway.Whic version of Windows is currently installed?-You didn't advise if your internet connection is wired or wireless. It may be a simple matter of updating the driver and/or making some setting changes in its properties window. You might also consider having your thread transferred to the 'Networking' section so some of the knowledgeable people there, such as JohnWill and Elvandil and TerryNet, can help you. Just click 'Report' in the lower right and then request to have your thread transferred. What speed are you getting with the 'good' computer and what with the 'problem' computer?

Please show for the problem computer.Start, Run, CMD, OK to open a command prompt:(For Vista or 7 type CMD in the Search box after Start)Type the following command:IPCONFIG /ALLNote that there is no space between the slash and ALL.Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter.Paste the results in a message here.If necessary use a text file and removable media to copy the results to a computer with internet access. Flavellee, believe it or not, I must have struck some type of sympathy mode in the eMachine tech, after he advised me to purchase the recovery disks, he guided me to a link where he had posted step by step instructions to the recovery process, on some hidden drive within the computer, or so he claimed.who knows?I'm running Windows XP Home edition and it is a wired internet connection, on the desktop I'm referring to. I also have wireless in my house, for my laptop, but not on the desktop. As far as any personal data stored on the pc, there is very little and what I do have I will have no problem saving and/or backing up. I guess the real issue is the fact that I'm paying for my internet providers fastest service/speed and not recieving it. If the problem lies within my computer thats fine, I just want to fix it and be able to get what I'm paying for. I do not want to perform a system recovery by any means, not that I have a great deal of information that I'm going to lose, just that, for one, I'm not very smart when it comes to pc's and two, I just don't have any idea of what else to do, again, due to my lack of knowledge.

Once more, thanks!

Recovery

Most of the time, your eMachines computer should work as expected with few, if any, problems. Nevertheless, the might machine might lock up occasionally for reasons such as too many programs running at once or simply leaving the computer on for too long a period without a reboot. In most cases, you can resolve issues by simply restarting the machine using the Windows Start menu or the reset button on the front of the case. Other times, though, you may need to use the eMachines recovery partition to reset the machine to factory defaults if infected with a hard-to-remove virus or a seriously corrupted Windows installation. Click 'Next' in the Restore Destination window, then click 'OK' in the final confirmation window. The eRecovery Management utility formats your main system drive and reinstalls the original software that shipped with your computer.

A progress bar notifies of you of the current progress of the recovery. The recovery utility may prompt you to restart your computer several times during the recovery process. Restart the computer when prompted. The computer reboots automatically after the recovery finishes and launches the Windows First Time Setup. The recovery takes between 10 minutes and one hour depending on which model eMachines computer you own.
